Sokolica

Sokolica

Sokolica (Sokola Perć) [747 m] - one of the most popular and recognizable peaks in the northeastern part of the Central Pieniny Mountains. The peak's name refers to the times when falcons nested there.

It has long been a tourist destination and one of the most photographed places in Poland. The peak attracts visitors not only for its distinctive pine trees but also provides an exceptionally picturesque viewpoint overlooking the Dunajec Gorge, the Central Pieniny, the Małe Pieniny, the Spiš Magura, the Bielskie Tatras, and the High Tatras.
The northern slopes are covered with a beech and fir forest, and relict pines can be found on the summit – the oldest and most famous is approximately 500 years old. The southern walls of Sokolica drop almost vertically, creating cliffs over 300 meters into the Dunajec Gorge.
Currently, admission to the summit of Sokolica (like Trzy Korony) is subject to a fee. The ticket also allows access to Trzy Korony (on the same day).
Hiking time [green trail from Krościenko]: 1.4 hours.
